Cyberpunk 2077 Leaving Xbox Game Pass Soon

Cyberpunk 2077 Leaving Xbox Game Pass Soon

Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Be Available on Game Pass Much Longer

If you’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077 through Xbox Game Pass or had it on your backlog, now’s the time to either finish it or make the purchase. The game will be leaving Microsoft’s subscription service soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been part of the Game Pass catalog, giving subscribers access to CD Projekt Red’s ambitious open-world RPG set in Night City. The game, which launched with a rocky start but has since been substantially improved through patches and updates, has found a solid player base on the platform.

What This Means for Subscribers

Once a game leaves Game Pass, you’ll no longer have access to it through your subscription. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

Your progress is safe. If you’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077, your save files will remain on your system. If you decide to purchase the game later, you can pick up right where you left off.

Subscriber discounts may apply. Game Pass members typically get a discount when purchasing games that are currently in the catalog. If you’re interested in keeping Cyberpunk 2077 permanently, it might be worth checking if there’s a special price before it rotates out.

A Game Transformed

For those unfamiliar with Cyberpunk 2077’s journey, the game has come a long way since its troubled launch. CD Projekt Red has released numerous patches addressing performance issues, bugs, and gameplay mechanics. The Phantom Liberty expansion also added substantial new content, including a spy thriller storyline and a completely revamped skill system.

The game puts you in the shoes of V, a mercenary navigating the neon-soaked streets of Night City in a future where body modification and corporate control define daily life. With multiple approaches to missions, branching storylines, and a richly detailed world, it’s the kind of game that can easily consume dozens of hours.

The Game Pass Rotation

This is how Game Pass works. Games come and go from the service regularly as licensing agreements expire or publishers decide to remove their titles. While it can be disappointing to see a game leave, especially one as substantial as Cyberpunk 2077, it’s part of the subscription model’s nature.

The silver lining is that the rotating catalog means new games are constantly being added. Microsoft typically announces what’s leaving and what’s coming to Game Pass at regular intervals throughout each month.

Should You Buy It?

If you’ve been enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 and want to continue your journey through Night City, or if you haven’t started yet but are interested, you’ll need to decide whether to purchase it outright. The game regularly goes on sale, so you might want to keep an eye on our deals section for potential discounts.

Given the amount of content available, including the base game’s main story, numerous side quests, and the Phantom Liberty expansion (sold separately), there’s plenty to justify a purchase if the game has hooked you.

The removal from Game Pass doesn’t diminish what Cyberpunk 2077 has become: a deep, engaging RPG with a unique setting and strong storytelling. It just means you’ll need to own it directly to keep playing after it leaves the subscription service.
