If you’ve been holding off on picking up a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller because of the price tag, Amazon’s resale program might have just what you’re looking for. Like-new units of Nintendo’s premium controller are currently available through the platform’s renewed products section, offering a more budget-friendly alternative to buying brand new.

What You’re Getting

The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller remains one of the best options for playing your Switch games, especially if you prefer a more traditional controller layout over the Joy-Cons. It features motion controls, HD rumble, built-in amiibo functionality, and a rechargeable battery that can last up to 40 hours on a single charge.

Through Amazon’s resale program, you’re looking at controllers that have been returned, inspected, and certified to be in like-new condition. This means minimal to no signs of wear, full functionality, and all the features you’d expect from a fresh-out-of-the-box controller.

Why Consider a Refurbished Controller

The Pro Controller typically retails at a premium price point, which can be a tough pill to swallow if you’re building out your gaming setup or looking to add extra controllers for multiplayer sessions. Amazon’s renewed program bridges that gap by offering products that work like new but cost less.

These aren’t just random used controllers either. Amazon’s certification process ensures that refurbished items meet specific quality standards. You’re also covered by Amazon’s return policy, so if something isn’t right with your purchase, you have options.

Perfect Timing for Switch Owners

Whether you’re a long-time Switch owner or recently picked up the console, having a Pro Controller makes a noticeable difference for certain games. Titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, or any of the many indie games available on the platform feel more comfortable with a full-sized controller in your hands.

The Pro Controller also works great for PC gaming through Bluetooth or USB connection, giving you even more value beyond just your Switch. Many PC gamers actually prefer it over other options for certain game genres.

Things to Keep in Mind

As with any resale or refurbished product, availability can vary. Stock comes and goes based on returns and trade-ins, so if you see a good deal, it’s worth acting relatively quickly. The condition description should tell you exactly what to expect, but like-new typically means you’re getting something that’s nearly indistinguishable from a brand new product.

Also worth noting: these controllers come with the standard features you’d expect, including USB-C charging (the cable may or may not be included depending on the listing, so double-check that), wireless connectivity, and compatibility with Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite (in tabletop or docked mode for the Lite).

If you’re looking to save some cash on a quality controller, checking out the renewed section for deals like this is a smart move.
